A few weeks ago I photographed what I think is the sexiest loft in Medellin. To say that this pad is a panty dropper is an understatement.
So what makes this the sexist loft in Medellin?
For starters, unlike the other lofts I’ve photographed, this one ISN’T up for rent or sale. Sorry to disappoint any of you ballers looking for a new place to call home!
Because it isn’t a rental property, the owner invested more time and money into the design and decor. I have noticed that many property owners in Medellin intentionally cut corners on furnishings and fittings because they don’t want to risk investing in expensive things that renters can damage or destroy. This often results in subpar lighting, under-decorated areas and a more impersonal feel. That definitely isn’t the case with this loft.

Luxury Living Room in a Loft in Medellin
In case you’re wondering why I am photographing a property that isn’t for rent or sale, I did the shoot for the architectural firm that designed the loft.
Designed by 5 Solidos Medellin
This 200m² loft was designed and decorated by one of the best interior design and architectural firms in Medellin called 5 Solidos. Although the firm is only a few years old, it is already making a significant impact in the city. The owners are young and sophisticated, two characteristics that are clearly reflected in this and every other project they work on.
According to the owners of 5 Solidos, they specialize in the design of innovative and unconventional spaces. For this project, they wanted to keep a modern yet eclectic style that had a New York City loft vibe. The open plan integrated the different social areas and showcased timeless furniture pieces, keeping an overall elegant but unique aesthetic. The use of contrasting materials added a sense of drama without taking away from the natural and organic nature of the design. The contrast was also coherent with the use of imposing vegetation throughout the space.

Balanced Lighting
The lighting in this loft wasn’t left to chance, it was carefully thought out and implemented. The lights serve to complement and highlight the design features and furnishings in the loft. The quality and sources of light are key contributors to this apartment’s sex appeal. Just about any mood can be set by balancing the temperature and sources of light throughout the apartment. Bulbs are dimmable and curtains are adjustable right from the owner’s smartphone. By day the large plants help to provide spade from the sun and cast long dramatic shadows on the hardwood floor.

Perhaps the most spectacular design element of this property is the raised marble floor that separates the dining area and bedroom from the rest of the loft. The floor is made from 17 solid slabs of marble measuring 3×1 meters and weighing approximately 300kg each. The builders actually had to break down the front wall facing the street to swing the marble slabs in with a crane.

At night, the large banana plants give the impression that you’re in a tropical luxury retreat in the middle of the jungle when in reality you’re only a few blocks from Medellin’s nightlife and restaurant nucleus. For added privacy, the bedroom can be separated from the rest of the loft by large mechanically controlled curtains.

The main bathroom is sheer elegance. Much like the bedroom floor, the bathroom floor is made from solid marble. However, unlike the bedroom floor which is made from 17 slabs, the bathroom floor is made from one solid slab weighing and impressive 800kg. The way the water streams out of the showerhead and hits the floor reminds me of a small waterfall I like to visit about 3 hours from Medellin. The black wall in the shower has a hidden secret door that leads to a service room. This is where the laundry machines and the loft’s storage is hidden.
The stylish bedroom features a floor to ceiling glass wall that leads to a spacious walk-in closet and bathroom. This type of design is definitely more suited for someone who is very organized and meticulous in how they care for their clothes and shoes.
The kitchen has a marble island that is ideal for cooking and entertaining small groups. It also features stainless steel appliances and a large wine cooler refrigerator.

The Best Luxury Penthouses and Apartments in Medellin Colombia
I’ve been photographing luxury penthouses and apartments in Medellin for over 5 years. It wasn’t always that way. I started out shooting dull hostel rooms and worked my way up to shooting some of the most posh properties in the city. It has been a very challenging yet rewarding learning experience that continues with each new property I shoot.
People always ask me ‘What is the sickest apartment you’ve seen in Medellin?’ or ‘What’s the best penthouse in Medellin”. That’s always a very tough question to answer because there are so many gorgeous properties that I like for very different reasons. There is no shortage of awesome Medellin apartments and penthouses for rent and/or buy. You just have to know where to look and who to contact.
Although it was very difficult, I decided to put together this post to showcase what I believe are 12 of the best penthouse apartments in Medellin that I have photographed. Of course there are other ultra-luxurious cribs in the city that I still haven’t seen, but don’t worry, they’re on my radar and will be added to this list.
Some of these properties are ideal for mature singles and couples, while others are perfect for a bachelor party or a group of single friends looking to let loose.
Many of the owners, architects, designers and property managers of these apartments have become repeat clients and personal friends of mine, so it’s with great pleasure that I share them with you.
1) Lavish Luxury Medellin Apartment with The Best Private Indoor Pool
Average cost: $823USD/night
I consider this immense property to be one of the best apartments in Medellin for a few reasons. First and foremost, it has it’s own swimming pool. When I say ‘its own swimming pool’ – I don’t mean the building has a pool, I am mean the apartment itself has a pool that can be accessed right from the living room. As a matter of fact, the entire building is quite lavish. It has 8 floors and each floor is a different apartment with its own pool. So that’s 8 floors, 8 apartments, and 8 pools.
Rumour has it that this building was once owned by the infamous Pablo Escobar – hence the over the top design, tight security and gaudy amenities.
This 1100 square meter unit is ideal for groups of up to 12 people – families or groups of friends who just want to live it up for a few days in Medellin. In addition to the heated pool and accompanying tanning deck, the property features an 8-person jacuzzi, bar, sauna, and steam room.
This apartment has been featured in several Reggaeton videos and is often used as the set of fashion photography shoots. Although guests planning bachelor parties are more than welcome, the owners strongly discourage loud music or big parties. The other residents of this building do not take kindly to loud parties at night and will complain to the authorities.
This one could almost be considered a Medellin mansion.
2) Simple Sophistication – The best penthouse apartment in Medellin for a single guy
Average Price: $361/night
I love this crib. It’s the first luxury apartment I ever photographed in Medellin. I’ve photographed it twice in the past 4 years. The previous owner is one of the people who gave me my first break in Medellin. I remember him saying “Take your time, there’s no rush. If you need to come back again tomorrow for a few hours I will pay you for your time”. That was the first time I knew that there was a market for high-end real estate photography in Colombia.
Although there are many master bedrooms with spectacular landscape views of Medellin, this one rivals the best of them. Perhaps it’s the unique dome-shaped roof that frames the city in a much different way than I am accustomed to seeing through standard square windows. The spacious bedroom, accompanying bathroom and adjacent office all open onto a comfortable rooftop patio where guests can sip on cocktails while watching the sun set over the city.
As far as apartments in Medellin go, if I had to pick one for myself, this one would probably be it. Large windows allow natural light and fresh air to flow through the entire apartment. In addition to the second floor master bedroom, there are two smaller guest bedrooms on the first floor with their own private bathrooms. In the living room there is full-size, well-maintained pool table and a small bar. The kitchen features a sizeable island that can be used as a food preparation area or an additional space where guests can socialize and eat while food or drinks are being prepared.
I called this penthouse the best apartment in Medellin for a single guy for a few reasons. It is literally steps from all of the nightlife and dining around Parque Lleras. It has the perfect layout for entertaining small groups of classy people and a it has a bedroom with a priceless view of the city.
3) Complete Elegance – A Penthouse in Medellin Custom Designed for Luxury Living
Available for Sale: $2,000,000USD
This 2-storey property features my favourite rooftop terrace of any penthouse apartment in Medellin. Don’t get me wrong, the others are spectacular, but this one takes the cake in my books. That’s probably because the owner designed it for himself and not as a rental property.
This luxury penthouse has what I call ‘The WOW Factor’. Whether you’re on the main floor in the living room or on the rooftop terrace, you will be wowed. Everything from the design to the furnishings are high-end. The property is a smart home and can be controlled from an i-pad.
Unlike the other Medellin penthouses in this post, this one is NOT available for rent. However, if you have $2 million USD to blow, the owner might consider parting with it.

4) The best 3-floor luxury penthouse in Medellin for a Bachelor Party
Capacity: 16 guests Price for 3 floor option: $989USD/night Price for 2 floor option: $798USD/night
I remember meeting the owner of this beautiful 2-storey penthouse apartment in Medellin a few years ago while playing basketball. He added me to Facebook and told me that I was exactly the person he was looking for. He was just finishing up the remodelling of a well-located luxury penthouse and needed a photographer to take photos that could really show the place off. Naturally I assured him that I was just the guy for the job. 🙂
About a year ago the owner made a strategic decision to buy the apartment directly below to connect his 2-floor penthouse into a 3-floor mega penthouse. Now he offers potential guests two convenient options. They can rent the top 2 floors or all 3 floors. The 3-floor option sells more since it can fit groups of up to 16 guests for an additional $200/night.
The top floor is nothing short of pure luxury. Inside there is a master bedroom, bathroom and living room/lounge area. Outside features a jacuzzi with spectacular views of the city, BBQ area, and covered lounge area for guests to relax and watch the sun set. 5) 3-Level Loft Style Luxury Penthouse Medellin – Perfect for a Business Traveler
Average Price: $750USD/week
This newly built, beautiful 2-bedroom, 4-bath penthouse is located 5 minutes walk from Medellin’s Golden Mile. It features high ceilings, big windows and a large balcony facing the city. The kitchen is stocked with all major appliances including a dishwasher, washing machine and coffee-maker. Although Medellin’s climate is quite favourable, guests can also choose to lock themselves inside and crank up the air conditioning.
Many apartments in Medellin are only available for short term rental because owners can make more money and still have their property available for personal use when needed. Luckily this one is also available for long term rentals.
6) Edifico Calle 6 – Beautiful Art & Keen Attention to Detail
Average Price: $427/night
As they say, the devil is in the details. From the very first moment I stepped into this apartment I could tell that the owner took great pride in designing, furnishing and maintaining his apartment. This 4-bedroom apartment spans the entire floor of the building and has balconies on 3 sides.
From chatting with Oliver the owner, I realized that he places a lot of importance on his guest’s comfort and wellbeing. He invested a significant amount of money and time to make the apartment both beautiful and comfortable for his high-paying clients. Private elevator entrance, Orthopedic mattresses, flatscreen HDTV’s, blackout curtains, 24-hour security, and expensive artwork are only a few of the niceties to be expected.

7) 15-Bedroom Medellin Mansion
Average Price: $1029/night
I know…this one doesn’t fit the apartments in Medellin title (it’s more of a Medellin mansion), but I still had to feature it in my list. It has 15 bedrooms for Christmas sake. This monstrosity of a property takes lavish luxury living to a whole other level. A big heated outdoor swimming pool with adjoining jacuzzi, pool table, saunas, steam rooms, incredible views of the city and more.
8) Panoramika – Stylish interior design and spectacular views of Medellin
Average Price: $239USD/night
The name of this building says it all – ‘Panoramika’. That’s exactly what guests staying at this rental apartment should expect – An amazing 180 degree panoramic view of Medellin and it’s mountains. Although most luxury apartments in Medellin offer some sort of a view of the city, this one is completely unobstructed by any other structures. With that being said, this apartment offers much more than just a pretty view…
Whether you plan to stay for a day or a month you’ll be well pampered at this rental. All of the fixtures and furnishings in this smart home were thoughtfully selected by the owner and his talented interior designer. If a good night’s sleep is your priority, both master bedrooms come fitted with blackout curtains and the owner has plans to step things up by installing customized sound proof windows.
If you’re like many visitors who make Medellin their virtual office for a few weeks, having a good internet connection in the apartment is critical. This apartment has a dedicated fibre optic internet connection. For entertainment you will have Apple TV running through the apartment and a large screen projector in the living room.
Note that the Panoramica apartment building has a play area for kids and an infinity pool with a view of the city.
9) A Cozy Apartment Perfectly Located in Medellin Poblado
Walk out your door and a few steps later onto Calle 10 and Avenida Poblado. This cozy little gem is perfectly located next to the best nightlife, restaurants, grocery stores, parks, bus routes, and more. I selected this property both because of its design and amenities, and it’s hard to match location.
This apartment has it’s own jacuzzi.
10) Energy Living
This 1-bedroom luxury apartment is ideal for a bachelor or couple visiting the city. It is in one of the most architecturally unique buildings in the city – Energy Living. The rooftop infinity pool runs off into the city skyline and is definitely one of my favourite selling features of this property.

11) Parque Lleras Bachelor Party Realty TV Style Crib
Average Price: $1235/night Sleeps: Up to 17 guests
I know that’s one long ass title isn’t it?
I still remember my college marketing professor repeating one of the golden rules of marketing….Location, Location, Location!
Originally, the phrase was taken to mean that your business must be in the correct location, geographically, to be successful. This Medellin apartment proves the saying to be 100% correct.
Okay, I have to make one small correction – This isn’t an apartment, it is a private 3-storey luxury home. Nonetheless, I felt it necessary to add it to the list.
Start by picturing a house from MTV Cribs, Big Brother, Jersey Shore or any other reality hit TV series. All you need to do is add the actors and you have your own show waiting to happen.
If you want to be in the heart of Medellin’s party zone, this stylish, well decorated property couldn’t be better located. It is literally located IN Parque Lleras – Party Central. Walk out the front door and into countless restaurants, nightclubs, cafes and boutique clothing stores. One guest accurately described it as “a hideaway in plain sight”. What he means is that although it is in the middle of the action, from outside, it can easily go unnoticed.
Ideal for hosting a bachelor party in Medellin
I think that this is THE ideal property if you’re considering throwing a bachelor party in Medellin. I already mentioned, the first reason – it’s the perfect location. Because it’s located right in the Medellin’s nightlife zone, noise isn’t as big an issue as it would be in other properties around the city. I say “as big” an issue because noise can always become a factor if guests take things too far – and they do!
The good thing is that parties go until the wee hours of the morning in this zone, so if you’re considering having your own private party, you won’t be disturbing anyone’s peace.
The owner is all about providing the best possible service and experience for his groups. He’s been living in Medellin for nearly 10 years now and has hired a full staff to tend to his guests’ every need. They plan every detail of a bachelor party, including airport pickups and drop-offs, VIP nightclub access, private security, tours to nearby attractions, private chefs, and more.
Another great and important factor is that it sleeps up to 17 guests! So there is tons of space for a big group of friends.
Yep and it has a pool. The ground floor master bedroom opens out into a private pool and jacuzzi area.
12) Nothing But High Living at the Kaffa Luxury Penthouse in Medellin – FOR SALE $700,000 USD Fully Furnished
Average cost to rent this apartment: $288USD/night
Out of 10, this luxury penthouse scores an easy 15. Upon entering the front door, it will be quite evident that a lot of time, money, and passion were put into creating this gorgeous space. The apartment was completely remodelled and decorated by the young and talented team at Medellin’s premier Interior Design and Architecture firm 5 Solidos. The apartment has been dubbed Käffa, which according to the owners translates to High Living (seen in the lighting fixture behind the pool table). This penthouse is so luxurious that it surprises me that the owner would even consider renting it out to total strangers. If you’re looking for a place where you can party and go nuts, this one isn’t NOT for you.
The 2-floor penthouse (282.93 square meters) is conveniently located in the heart of one of the Medellin’s most trendy neighbourhoods and is surrounded by restaurants, bars, shops, and art galleries. As much as guests will love what awaits inside the property, they’ll equally love what the neighbourhood offers. If you rent this apartment, you’ll probably want check out the neighbouring El Social, a popular bar with ample outdoor patio seating, trendy patrons and a generous drink menu. If you’re a spicy food lover like I am, I highly recommend the new Pakistani restaurant Tandoori Halal just one door away.
Among other things, the first floor features hardwood floors, a spacious living room with fireplace, a den with a massive flat screen TV, a full-size pool table and games area, and a stylish kitchen and adjacent dining room. The lighting and decorative touches help to complement the semi-industrial architecture by creating an inviting, homey atmosphere of warmth.
The second floor is where you’ll find the living quarters that can comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests. Getting a good night’s sleep won’t be a problem at this property. Every room has comfortable beds and plush pillows, stylish bathrooms, flat screen TV’s, elegant lighting, and blackout curtains. My favourite, and one of the most interesting and unique design elements featured in every bathroom in property is the shiny metallic sink and faucet seen in the photo below.
Update 4 April 2018: I just got wind that the Kaffa Luxury Penthouse in Medellin is up for sale. The owner is selling the apartment as is – fully furnished for $700,000 USD. This is a great property investment for anyone who wants to start gaining revenue from day one.
Maküi an impressive 3-floor loft style apartment – For Sale

I’ve been meaning to add this property to the best Medellin penthouse list for quite some time now. Why? Because it is so damn sexy, it deserves its place among the other greats on this list. If you have a thing for design and decor, you’ll love the Maküi property.
This apartment was designed and remodelled by the same people who did the Kaffa property shown above. It is spacious, elegant and well-decorated. Not to mention it is now up for sale as is – fully furnished as seen in the photos.
I’m not a real estate guru nor do I have this sort of money sitting around in an off shore bank account. However, if I did, this would be one of my first choices from the penthouse apartments for sale in Medellin.

The 4-bedroom apartment is in one of the most sought after neighbourhoods in Poblado. Walk out the front door and you are in restaurant and bar heaven. The master bedroom is what we would call pimped out. It has it’s own bathroom, steam room and sauna. What makes it even more pimp is that it opens out onto a private terrace with a jacuzzi, lounge area, and has an awesome view of the city.
